Straight from the grower
Straight from the grower
We have been growing our plants with great passion since 1976. We are therefore proud that the third generation is now at the helm of our family business. All plants and trees we supply come either directly from our own nursery or from fellow nurseries that work in partnership with Heijnen. Through our close cooperation with various skilled growers, plant importers and other professionals, we guarantee products that are as fresh and high quality as possible. What this means for you is healthy and beautiful plants and trees straight from the nursery at competitive prices.

Traits of ash-grey rock plants and soft stone tones

Grey flowering rock garden plants are perfect for adding unique colour to a garden. These plants grow in various forms, often spreading low to the ground. They can cover a wide area, making them ideal for rock gardens. The development of these plants starts in early spring, with small shoots appearing. As the season progresses, they grow into mature plants with beautiful grey flowers. The blooming months for grey flowering rock garden plants are typically from late spring to early summer. Factors like climate, temperature, and soil care play a role in their blooming. In cooler climates, they may bloom later. The colour of the blooms can range from silver-grey to ash grey, influenced by the plant type, soil, and light conditions. These plants are not known for a strong scent, but their subtle fragrance can attract pollinators, adding biodiversity to the garden. The mature height of grey flowering rock garden plants varies, usually staying low to maintain sightlines in the garden. Proper care and placement can enhance their growth and appearance. For those looking to buy grey flowering rock garden plants, consider their compatibility with other silver-leaf rock plants. They can create stunning grey-toned borders and gardens, adding a metallic or matte grey touch to any garden with grey colour accents.

Grey flowering rock garden plants are a unique addition to any garden. Their leaves often have a silvery or grey tone, which can vary depending on the species. The leaf shape can be narrow or broad, and the texture might be smooth or slightly hairy. These plants usually retain their leaves throughout the year, providing a consistent grey hue even in winter. However, some may lose leaves in colder climates, influenced by temperature and wind exposure.

These plants are generally hardy, withstanding cold temperatures. The level of frost resistance depends on the specific type, soil conditions, and wind exposure. In milder climates, they are more likely to thrive without losing foliage. Grey flowering rock garden plants are often evergreen, maintaining their leaves year-round, which is ideal for adding consistent colour to gardens.

In terms of heat and drought resistance, these plants are well-suited for dry conditions. Their origins in rocky environments mean they have adapted to conserve water, often featuring a waxy coating or fine hairs on leaves to reduce moisture loss. Deep root systems help them access water in dry soil, making them resilient in hot weather.

Grey flowering rock garden plants are generally non-toxic, making them safe for gardens with children and pets. They contribute to biodiversity by providing habitats and food for insects and small animals. Their long-lasting blooms and foliage create a balanced ecosystem, supporting garden health and resilience.
